Transfers to and from Kahului Airport

Upon arriving on Maui at Kahului Airport (OGG) it is wise to have transportation already arranged, although there are a few options for those who have forgotten or like to live on the wild-side of life.

Maui is a beautiful island in the U.S. State of Hawaii and whether you come here to relax and experience luxury and beautiful sunsets, play golf, go on an adventure in the rainforest or drive along the gorgeous, scenic coastline you first need to get from the airport to the hotel of your choice.

All alternatives of transportation available can be found outside of the terminal building once passed through the baggage claim area, and please remember to collect your luggage before exiting.

Buses at Kahului Airport

The County of Maui funds a public bus system in and between some, but not all, of the communities on Maui and two of the routes stop at Kahului Airport. The bus stop is in Zone #3 right outside the terminal. There are signs to show the way.

Shuttles at Kahului Airport

The Maui Airport Shuttle Service is located in the baggage claim area, close to Starbucks, with no need to make a reservation beforehand.

Trains at Kahului Airport

There are no trains on the island of Maui.

Taxis at Kahului Airport

You can order a taxi upon your arrival through the on-site taxi service or pre-arrange for a taxi, van, bus or limousine to transport you, your traveling companions and your luggage to your hotel through one of the many transportation services available on the island.

Car Rental at Kahului Airport

The best way to get around Maui is undeniably by car, and if you rent a vehicle you can explore the island at your own convenience. The rental car desks at Kahului Airport are located in a separate facility on the airport premises, about 0.6 mi/1 km from the terminal exit, reachable either through a walkway or a tram located across the street after exiting from the baggage claim area. Some of the companies available are Sixt, Avis, Payless, National, Enterprise, Budget, Dollar, Advantage, Alamo, Avis and Fox. It is wise and recommended to pre-book the vehicle of your choice, especially during high season, and to choose a car that will suit your budget and the type of experience you are looking to have while on the island.

Pick-up

If you are picking someone up, or you are being picked up, the Cellular Telephone Waiting Lot located outside the baggage claim area is free of charge for up to an hour as long as the car is not left unattended. Violations may result in fines.
